With the DFT and the DIA currently under renovation, the Detroit Film Theatre is presenting a summer movies series at various Metroparks in southeast Michigan. In celebrating the 60th anniversary of the original monster movie that entirely changed movie entertainment, the DFT will be having three showings of the original Japanese film Godzilla. The classic 1954 movie was directed by Ishiro Honda and is still heralded as the best the franchise has ever seen. The screening will feature a restored version in Japanese with English subtitles. Each movie night will be prefaces with a short reel from award-winning Michigan student filmmakers. Screening begin at 8:45 and admission is included with park entry. Godzilla will screen at Kensington on August 1; Stony Creek on August 8; and Willow on August 15.
