John Waters to perform at this year's Dirty Show ... obviously

Jerry Vile's annual erotic art exhibition, the Dirty Show, has always been a seedy affair, drawing the sorts of characters you might find in a John Waters movie. So the recent announcement that the cult filmmaker is slated to perform at this year's Dirty Show in February only makes sense.

Waters will be the special guest artist this year, performing an updated stage adaptation of his one-man show This Filthy World on Feb. 12. In the show (retitled This Filthy World — Filthier and Dirtier), Waters discusses his earliest (negative) influences, his films, and the "trash" genre he would become known for. The show was released as an eponymous documentary in 2006.

Waters will also have artwork featured in the show as well. Other featured artists include Glenn Barr, Colin Christian, Shawn Barber, and even the late sci-fi extraordinaire H.R. Giger.

Now in its 16th year, the show will be held over two weekends in February, from Feb. 12 through Feb. 14 and Feb. 20 though Feb. 21. Tickets can be purchased over at the Dirty Show's official site

If you're feeling nostalgic, re-read our interview with Vile from last year about the show's humble beginnings in the offices of his magazine Orbit to being held in the recently renovated 36,000 square-foot expo center at the Russell Industrial Center in the MT archives.
