There's a lot of speculation going on about the fate of the much-beloved (at least by local music fans) Lager House in Corktown. Motor City Rocks has described the club as "Detroit rock underground's headquarters," especially in the years since the closing of the Gold Dollar.

The only thing that's known for sure is that the establishment has definitely been sold to new owners and the bar's longtime booking staff will no longer be booking shows there. A Detroit radio station called here yesterday afternoon, asking us to verify that the entire staff had been let go ... but, truthfully, that was the first we'd heard of it.

Last night's show featuring Joe Reatard, the Terrible Twos and Mountains & Rainbows was the last Lager House show under the old regime. As for the future? It's anybody's guess ... although our friend Jasper of the Detroit-centric music website Web Vomit predicts  "Ragtime Sundays," "Peel-and-Eat Shrimp Wednesdays" and "the installation of a mechanical bull."

Kinda sad, actually ...

Music at the Lager House: Going, going, gone ...?
