City Slang: White Shag for MEOW con



Detroit rockers White Shag is heading to Austin, Texas, at the end of October for MEOW Con 2013 MEOW stand for Musicians for Equal Opportunities for Women.

According to a statement, “The band will be playing a showcase during the conference where Suzi Quatro will be the keynote speaker. Laura Mendoza, the lead singer and bassist of the band, will also be speaking in a panel dedicated to women in education. The event will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin, Texas from October 24-26.”

“MEOW Con is a conference dedicated to exposure, empowerment and community-building for women in all genres of music. Suzi Quatro will not only be the keynote speaker of the event but will also perform and be honored with the Women of Valor award. Margaret Moser of the Austin Chronicle will also be honored with this award which Kathy Valentine (formerly of the Go-go's) will be presenting. The conference will include an endless amount of impressive panelists, including White Shag's own Laura Mendoza.”
