About seven weeks ago, the venerated recording people's magazine Tape Op (which is generally well-written and even done up in English rather than the arcane dude-jargon you'd expect) put up a link to an interview with Motown's chief recording engineer for 18 years, Russ Turana. Rob Bisel's interview with the man is really fun and super long. Check it out here, OK.
During his tenure at the label, Turana recorded or mixed down a total of 89 number one hit records in the U.S., including "ABC" by the Jackson Five, which is one of my favorite records, ever.
If you don't absolutely adore this song, you are probably a sociopath.
