Just announced: Elvis Costello comes to town in October

Elvis Costello will perform with his band the Imposters on Oct. 30 at the Michigan Theater. Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. Seats will be priced at $69.50, $89.50, and $125.

This tour is called the "Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers” tour, which is Costello's take on this current trend for bands in mid or late career to revisit older material, whether they're playing entire records in their original running order or just jumping around inside the general universe they created once upon a time.

This is billed as Declan McManus framing selections from the acclaimed 1982 album Imperial Bedroom with "the songs that led in and out of that velvet-trimmed playhouse.”

Asked to elaborate on the show, Costello told the press release which we will now quote from that "You must have known by now that we wouldn't play this kind of show by anyone else's rules. You'll hear all the songs that fit the bill; hits and headlines, waifs and strays. In the words of the great Eric Morecambe, ‘I am playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.’"
