Alabama native Katie Crutchfield probably didn't know that her latest release Out in the Storm as Waxahatchee would have shaken the indie world the way that it has. But with her aching and autobiographical lyrics paired with an alt-’90s rawness, Crutchfield found a tender and bruised demographic and bares all on her most potent record yet. But it’s not just we angst-y saps who took notice β€” Crutchfield and Co. have toured with indie royalty Kurt Vile, Sleater-Kinney, Tegan and Sara, and most recently the New Pornographers.

Waxahatchee will perform at El Club on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 8 p.m. El Club is located at 4114 Vernor Hwy. in Detroit. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. For more info call 313-436-1793 or go to elclubdetroit.com.
