Aretha Franklin and Patti Smith featured in new Clive Davis doc

Apple Music released the first trailer for their highly anticipated documentary about music mogul Clive Davis, and if you look closely you may see some familiar Detroit faces.

The "Queen of Soul" and the "Godmother of Punk Rock", Aretha Franklin and Patti Smith respectively, are both featured in the documentary giving candid interviews on Davis, who according to Franklin in the trailer is, "the greatest record man of all time."

Other interviews in the documentary come from Alicia Keys, P-Diddy, Paul Simon, Bob Weir from the Greatful Dead, and Simon Cowell.

The trailer really explores Davis' relationhip with the late Whitney Houston who he mentored. Patti Smith says in the trailer that, "Clive really has a weakness for artists. It all stems from that authentic love of music."

The doc, Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives, premieres exclusively on Apple Music on October 3.
