Nolan the Ninja gets sensual on 'Phoenix'

We're used to Nolan the Ninja dropping so many bars that he could make Alcatraz look like the Mayberry County Jail. But in the romantic and melodic “Phoenix,” the Detroit-born emcee has slowed and smoothed down his flow.

The vibe of the track is reminiscent of Slum Village’s “Climax,” and Nolan shows he can be just as lyrical when talking about love: “Hotel accommodations/ rose pedals to accentuate the situation/ strip you naked/ Playing "Ain't No Nigga", as I lay my tongue upon your nipple,” he raps.

The single was produced by BlaaqGold and is off of his 2017 album, Yen. It features the sultry vocals of Ashely Rose and was directed by Alec Aretakis. You can watch the video below:
