He’s been sought after by the likes of Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Frank Ocean, and his latest effort, 2019’s Assume Form, has been hailed as “dizzyingly romantic” and received perfect scores by several critics — and for good reason. Producer and singer-songwriter James Blake takes sweeping risks on what is his most balanced record to date. Assume Form fuses hip-hop and electropop and finds Blake teaming up with Travis Scott, Moses Sumney, Rosalia, André 3000, and Big Sean collaborator Metro Boomin for an upbeat and, at times, somber love letter to someone Blake hasn’t met yet. Khushi supports.

James Blake will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the Royal Oak Music Theatre; 318 W. Fourth St., Royal Oak; 248-399-2980; royaloakmusictheatre.com; Tickets are $35.
