The family-friendly event will also be the official season opener of the Rink at Campus Martius. The Salvation Army Red Kettle will be lit at 6 p.m. followed by a showcase from national champion ice skaters, live choirs, and musical acts that will all lead up to the momentous event that is the lighting of the tree and the official start of Christmastime in Detroit.
