Chef Steve Kempner is a native Detroiter who grew up on the west side. After a successful yet unsatisfying career in sales, he began to turn his cooking hobby into a career. He has introduced his own style to the public through catering and pop-up events. His regular summer weekend gig dubbed DIBS gained him a loyal following as he fed the after-hours crowd in the courtyard of the Detroit Institute of Bagels.
