When: Sat., May 9, 2 p.m. 2015
This tribute to Eddie “Guitar” Burns is being put on by the local nonprofit Detroit Blues Society. Burns (1928-2012) is ranked second only to John Lee Hooker in terms of Detroit blues royalty. It starts early, but it won’t be too early to get low-down and enjoy yourself. The main guest performers include Aaron “Little Sonny” Willis and Billy Davis. Carlton Washington, billed as an “up-and-coming young Detroit bluesman,” will lead a group composed of local musicians who played with Burns.
