More than 150,000 attendees flock every year to this celebration of African-American history, enjoying traditional African drumming, poetry, arts and crafts, dance, ethnic foods, and more. The festival, which welcomes people of all ages, also features a runway show by Detroit Rocks the Runway, historic walking tours, a children’s village with book readings and storytelling, bike valet, solar-powered cellphone charging station, and more. There will also be vendors selling traditional African jewelry, beads, and clothing.
