The photo really says it all, doesn’t it? This colorful stage performance is more than what it appears on its aesthetically pleasing surface, however. The program features a work called “r-Evolution, Dream,” which was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches and sermons. The show as a whole will serve as a relevant work that explores themes of social justice while also honoring legendary jazz musicians like Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie. According to a press release, the company is recognized by U.S. Congress as a vital American “Cultural Ambassador to the World,” and is known for celebrating the African-American cultural experience and the American modern dance tradition.
