When: Tue., May 19, 7-9 p.m. 2015
The upper reaches of the Lower Peninsula offer some of the finest cycling in the world, with more than 1,000 miles of bicycling routes. Some of the very best bike rides are clustered around Traverse City, from Benzie to Emmet counties, including Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, the Tunnel of Trees, and the Leelanau Trail. One cyclist who knows this region well is author and former Northern Express editor Robert Downes. He’ll be in town to discuss his new book, Biking Northern Michigan, and offer a digital presentation on the pleasures and pitfalls of pedaling this pleasant peninsula.
