If it’s one thing we know about the Museum for Contemporary Art of Detroit is that they do everything outside of the box. This is true of the Black History 101 Mobile Museum, which will be rolling through the MOCAD for one day only. Founded by Khalid el-Hakim, this award-winning collection features memorabilia and artifacts not found in traditional exhibitions, spanning the entire course of black history from trans-Atlantic slave trade to hip-hop and the civil rights movement. Khalid will be on hand to discuss the importance of the preservation of black history and lead a discussion about race and social justice.
