When: Fri., Oct. 27, 8 p.m. 2017
Rap is inherently performance art and has, since its inception, been regarded as poetic commentary on social and political injustices. Returning after an explosive reception at the MOCAD’s 2017 Winter opening, Black Opera is back with new music, new imagery, and unmatched fire. A celebration of art, rap, and the inextinguishable spirit of resistance, Black Opera is rap’s first ever performance art group whose concoction of both traditional and digital art creates an immersive and reflective experience. This time around Black Opera will have a strong focus on the 1967 rebellion.
Doors open at 8 p.m.; 4454 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-832-6622.; mocadetroit.com; Tickets are $7 for members, $12 for non-members.
