Bubblegum pop

comment
You have to admit the Britney Spears CD Player Bubble Gum ($1.99 at Tower Records) offers a really easy target. It is a small, pink rectangle meant to look like a portable compact disc player filled with "discs" of bubblegum. On the cover is a nice picture of Britney, right above the Britney Brands, Inc. trademark. Will the target audience of this product get the joke of turning bubblegum pop music into actual bubble gum? Probably not, but they may notice the gum discs are surprisingly large and unrealistic. Tom A’Hearn pays attention here every other week. E-mail letters@metrotimes.com
