Burnt Sugar The Arkestra Chamber

When: Fri., Sept. 18, 10 p.m. 2015

The motley crew of musicians behind New York City’s Burnt Sugar has been affectionately described by Rolling Stone as a “multiracial jam army that freestyles with cool telekinesis between the lustrous menace of Miles Davis’ On the Corner, the bombastic prog of 1970s King Crimson, and Jimi Hendrixs’ moonwalk across side three of Electric Ladyland.” For this appearance, they draw on the wide spectrum of their experimental talents in service of the songbook of Sun Ra- the kickoff to MOCAD’s “United States of Latin America” exhibit, which will feature more than 30 emerging artists from Latin America.
