When: Wed., Dec. 17, 7 p.m. 2014
A group of theater artists is hosting an open forum for the arts community and Detroit at large to discuss fears, frustrations and other feelings regarding the recent verdict in Ferguson, Mo. The event touts itself as a “safe space for discussion,” and will also help to prepare artists to begin thinking about how their artwork can reflect recent issues in America. The night will start with a reading by several Detroit actors of excerpts from Anna Deavere Smith’s “Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992,” which focused on the Rodney King riots. Group discussions will also be a part of the forum.
