Recalling the power of the silhouetted Apple commercials that single-handedly launched bands like Charlift, Steriogram, and the Ting Tings, El Ten Eleven found reluctant notoriety through commercial spots and licensing deals eager to feature their punchy pop songs. The California post-rock duo continues to ride the P.R. wave on a full-length tour with Sego, another pop-duo with a L.A. slacker edge. Sego’s debut album, A Long Long Way From the Fringe, is perhaps too cerebral to win them a luxury car commercial, but it’s nevertheless worthy of a listen.
