Frank Black India Pale Ale | Axle Brewing Co.

comment

6.2% ABV

Axle is a Royal Oak-based brewery with a simple profile of brews that includes an IPA, Red, Wit, and Porter. To say they've made these beers self-explanatory and user-friendly is an understatement. They're also peddling two limited release beers that should be sampled soon. They won't be around for long.

Ruby is a red IPA with a full malty mouthfeel that's quickly overcome by an onslaught of American hops. The brew has notes of velvety caramel that's mixed with even more hops.

Frank Black IPA is a little less sassy. This can is for the hardworking man and woman who need a cold one at the end of the day. Brewers infused Chinook, Cascade, and Columbus hops during the entire brewing and fermentation, which brought the American hops front and center. It's rich and hearty without tasting burnt.

Each of these brews will be available at Polar Beer Club, which takes place at Royal Oak Farmers Market on Saturday, Jan. 16. Tickets are $65 for VIP and $45 for general admission. Check royaloakbeerfest.com for more info.
