When: Fri., May 26, 8 p.m. 2017
The hypnotic lure of the beats led Maryland’s Amir Mohamed to abandon visual art for hip hop. Performing as part of Washington, D.C.’s Low Budget Crew, the Sudanese American artist now called Oddisee recorded with DJ Jazzy Jeff, who returned the favor by mixing Oddisee’s 2006 solo debut release, Foot in the Door (Halftooth). Oddisee’s most recent release, 2015’s The Good Fight, is driven by social commentary and retro soul. The concert will be followed by a Q&A and meet & greet. Presented in partnership with We Found Hip Hop.
Price: $10 for AANM members, $15 for general public
