Book by Doug Wright. Lyrics by Amanda Green. Music by Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green. Directed by Don Brewer. Musical direction by Sarah de Tute. In this all-American musical, ten hard-luck Texans, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. Days pass under a scorching sun as a diverse cross-section of a small town community reveal their stories and their own visions of the American Dream. Hands on a Hard Body is based on true events and a 1997 documentary of the same name.
