Jazz Violin "The Detroit Way"

When: Mon., June 19, 6-9:30 p.m. 2017

Detroit Youth Volume violin students ages 3-18 and their mentors from Musique Noire & Polyfold Collective will perform in the historically jazzy Sugar Hill Arts District to celebrate Juneteenth. "The Detroit Way" is jazz musicians passing down knowledge to the next generation. DYV has been engaged in The Detroit Way since February during our Jazz Violin "The Detroit Way" workshop series. Teaching artists Marion Hayden, Michelle May, Leslie DeShazor, Michael Malis, Marcus Elliot and Matt Daher will perform alongside their students. This Knight Arts Challenge project is part of Atelier at N'Namdi, which teaches students art gallery skills.
