Having release over 14 studio records in as many years, Arkansas native, singer/songwriter, and self-proclaimed “hillbilly” Joe Purdy charts a different journey than most. Though planted in the tradition of folk greats such as Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Phil Ochs, Purdy is nothing if not a passionate observer with a unique perspective on his own inner workings and the world at large. Much of his commercial success is thanks to soundtrack work, but like a true folkie his dirt road street cred remains intact.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m; 316 S. Main St. Ann Arbor; 734-761-1800; theark.org; Tickets are $20.
