Josh White Jr., a self described secular folk, blues, and pop singer, songwriter, guitarist, adult and children’s concert performer, actor, and activist, is truly a treat to see. Growing up with his legendary musician father who introduced him to the history of roots music firsthand, White encountered legends as a child: President Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt, Langston Hughes, Woody Guthrie, Burl Ives, Nina Simone, and more. White, who has lived in southeast Michigan for a pretty long time now, ceaselessly records new music. His latest, Tuning for the Blues, showed off some great covers of blues standards, but audience members at the show will likely get a taste of all the genres White is a bonafide pro in.
