Mike DeCapite’s rep started in the late 1980s on New York’s Lower East Side. He published his cult-classic novel Through the Windshield in 1998. Harvey Pekar, in the Austin Chronicle, called it “one of the better American novels of the last several years,” and Jocko Weyland, in Rain Taxi, called it a “down-at-the-heels masterpiece.” DeCapite has since published the chapbooks Sitting Pretty and Creamsicle Blue and the short-prose collection Radiant Fog. His work has appeared in CUZ, Evergreen Review, Vanitas, and many other publications.
