In the words of Samantha Jones: “Come and get me, sailors!” OK, Marine Week might not be the Detroit equivalent of the Sex and the City character’s favorite holiday, but it’s close. Every year the U.S. Marine Corps chooses a city to take over and this year, it’s Detroit. For the next five days, uniformed Marines will visit schools, put on live demonstrations, perform the traditional early morning bugle call, raise and lower the flag at the Spirit of Detroit, and man static displays to help citizens understand the work of the men and women in service.
Starts at 6 p.m.; 800 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-963-2225; usmarineweek.com.
