When: Sat., June 8, 1 p.m. 2019
As it turns out, you don’t need rain to see a rainbow — you just need pride! Returning to Detroit’s Hart Plaza is Motor City Pride — Michigan’s largest LGBTQ+ celebration. This year’s event will honor the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall uprising, including a moment of remembrance for LGBTQ+ victims of violence. The two-day family-friendly festival will feature an array of activities with more than 100 vendors and 50 performers across four stages. Topping the bill are Greyson Chance, Flint activist and artist Tunde Olaniran, and Sabin’s Drag Revue featuring RuPaul’s Ongina. The main event, Sunday’s parade, will shimmy and shake its way from the corner of Fort Street and Griswold Street.
