Rebellion takes many forms, from breaking rules to expressing anger at injustice, to merely expanding the musical palette. You will hear a seldom-heard polonaise of Chopin, the Afro-Latin beats of Gottschalk (an unjustly-neglected American composer), one of Prokofiev's "War Sonatas", and Scriabin-another Russian. The program closes with George Gershwin, one of America's greatest iconoclasts. This is our Music Director's Mr. Palazzolo's second year on our concert series. With interesting and witty verbal program notes, he gives us a taste of the times when the composer wrote the music.
