When: Wed., April 12, 6 p.m. 2017
Born in Madrid, Salort-Pons worked his first curatorial job in Rome where he organized Italy’s first-ever Velazquez monographic exhibit. Later, he moved to Texas to curate the Meadows Museum, and by 2008 he was hired at the Detroit Institute of Arts as an assistant curator of European Paintings. He now serves as the DIA’s director — as in, he’s the boss. He’s the one responsible for making the iconic museum more of a “European public square” where people can mosey around, sip coffee, and chat. Please note, the Urban Consulate has moved and this Parlor Talk will be held at its new location.
