When: Sun., Oct. 17, 7 p.m. 2021
The intrepid PRISM Quartet is joined by tenorist extraordinaire Diego Rivera for its first live concert in Michigan in two years. Rivera joins PRISM for the Midwest premiere of two works from PRISM’s Heritage/Evolution project, bridging the saxophone’s dual histories in classical music and jazz: Melissa Aldana’s Reflections and Terell Stafford’s Favor. The program features previews of Martin Bresnick’s Mending Time and Juri Seo’s Unsung Lullaby from PRISM’s Mending Wall project, a fully staged concert exploring the meaning of walls in our world by giving musical form to questions about identity, community, division, and freedom. Must be vaccinated/masked to attend.
