Rob Halpern reading from his newest book Common Place, published by Ugly Duckling Presse 2015. Common Place continues Halpern’s sustained inquiry into the relations of body and voice to relentless militarization and economic depredation. Written in enjambed verses and impacted prose, Halpern’s language is at once raw and sculpted, passionate and analytic. Rob Halpern lives between San Francisco and Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he teaches at Eastern Michigan University and Huron Valley Women’s Correctional Facility. Common Place is his most recent volume of poetry (Ugly Duckling Presse 2015). Other works include Music for Porn, Disaster Suites, and Rumored Place.
