Saturday Looks Good to K

Saturday Looks Good to Me have signed to OG indie fave label K. Fill Up the Room, the combo's new record, is slated for a Sept. 11 2007 release; tour dates below. Take it away, SLGTM (from the press release):

"We're beyond thrilled to be working with K, a label all of us have loved and admired since our high school days. Fill Up The Room (also to be known as Love & Death if you like) represents an expansion in sound and lyrical ideas for the band, moving away from 60's girl group mimicry, and trying to build a new wall of sound from our own collective consciousness.

The songs, though still pure pop at the core, incorporate stretched-out jams, samples, drum circle breakdowns, huge and sporadic many-voiced braying choruses and elements of tape collage and musique concrete. The record also steps away from our older material in terms of subject matter, leaving behind heartbroken laments to investigate themes of the afterlife, women inventors and scientists, the physical breakdown of the human body in relation to artistic freedom and many other universal cycles. We can say without a doubt that it's our most honest and spiritually reaching work to date, and we're really excited to share it with the world."

Many-voiced braying!

Saturday Looks To Me freaks will also note that the band has a special tide-me-over one-sided LP planned for the interim between now and the new record, as well as other "7" singles, tour-only CDRs, mix tape remixes, exclusive MP3s, and what have you" planned, all or most of which will be available through their MySpace page.

SLGTM also gets props for taking Chris Bathgate out on tour with them. (Check this week's Motor City Cribs for a look inside Bathgate's digs.)They'll also close out their tour with a gig here at home with The Paybacks.
