Seun Kuti + Egypt 80

When: Fri., Sept. 22, 8 p.m. 2017

There is nothing ordinary about Nigerian musician Seun Kuti. The son of Afrobeat pioneer, composer, and activist Fela Kuti, this guy is African music royalty. At the age of 14, when his father died, Seun took over as lead singer in Fela’s band Egypt 80. A mix of his father’s material along with original compositions, a Seun Kuti performance is not merely a family affair but an exploration of an ongoing cultural legacy by means of infectious funk beats, jutting horns, and hip rocking percussions.
