Silent Shorts Past and Present

Screenings of two Laurel & Hardy silent shorts: “The Battle of the Century,” (1927, 10 min.) where Hardy, a fight manager for puny pugilist Laurel, tries an insurance scam. The film includes a classic pie throwing fight with over 3,000 cream pies. “Liberty” (1929, 20 min.) where they are escaped convicts who, while trying to change pants, end up on a skyscraper under construction. Also 5 previous International Youth Silent Film Festival competition silent short film winners to be shown. All films will have live accompaniment on the Redford’s 1928 Barton Theatre Organ by Nathan Avakian. Free supervised parking.
