Silent Shorts Past and Present

Screenings of two Laurel & Hardy silent shorts: “The Battle of the Century,” (1927, 10 min.) where Hardy, a fight manager for puny pugilist Laurel, tries an insurance scam. The film includes a classic pie throwing fight with over 3,000 cream pies. “Liberty” (1929, 20 min.) where they are escaped convicts who, while trying to change pants, end up on a skyscraper under construction. Also included will be screenings of 5 previous International Youth Silent Film Festival competition silent short film winners. All films accompanied by Nathan Avakian on the Redford’s 1928 Barton Theatre Organ. Free supervised parking.
