Taking cues

It tickles News Hits when Detroit’s daily newspapers devote ink to a story we broke and have been following for months. News Hits wrote a considerable amount about Detroit Public Schools’ construction of a new Beard Elementary School on soil contaminated with arsenic and other toxic material (read the first piece published Oct. 10, 2000). Last week the Detroit News and the Freep finally had reports of their own, with the News reporting the cleanup will cost $950,000. We can’t imagine why the dailies waited so long to jump on this story that could affect 600 students. News Hits invites both papers to continue following this story. They have not been shy in the past about taking cues from MT. Why stop now?
