The Islander: Walter Anderson Watercolors

When: April 11-June 28, 12-5 p.m. 2015

Walter Anderson's vibrant Horn Island watercolors reflect his attempt to divine the essence of nature, and reveal humanity's connection to its elemental vitality. As the critic Edward Sozanski remarked of Anderson, "his paintings are like Van Gogh's in the way they bombard viewers with more visual information than they can handle comfortably." The works on view from the permanent collection of the Mississippi Museum of Art bear witness to that observation.
