When: Sat., Sept. 2, 12 p.m. 2017
Despite great gains within the fashion industry, plus-size women are still grossly underrepresented — most women in the U.S. are a size 12, after all. The Plus Size Problem is working to make up the difference, helping the industry move toward the kind of inclusivity that would benefit both women and brands. This event will include a fashion show with work by six designers whose work is empowering to women, and organizers plan to give tips on wardrobe and accessories. Plus, they’ll talk about the negative impact on both mental and physical health that body shaming can have on plus-size women.
Starts at noon; 9342 Joseph Campau Ave., Detroit; tpsp.us; free.
