War front

Gee, you mean George the junior isn't the only prez to lie to us about a war? Of course not. But don't take our word for it. See for yourself by taking in the screen adaptation of Norman Solomon's nonfiction book War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death. The book and film expose a "50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq."

The film will be shown at 7 p.m. on April 18 in the Science Lecture Hall at Madonna University, 36600 Schoolcraft Rd., Livonia. There's a $5 donation. As an added bonus, Lars Ekstrom of the group Iraq Veterans Against the War will be the special guest speaker. Ekstrom was just featured in one of our stories marking the war's fifth anniversary ("Fighting for peace," March 19). Call 734-299-4391 for more info.
