Yearning to Be Free: The Japanese Internment and America’s Treatment of Ethnic Communities

Following the Thursday night screening of “Norman Mineta and His Legacy: An American Story,” Detroit Public Television will host a public forum on Friday, May 17 at 9:30am to discuss the treatment of ethnic communities. Secretary Mineta will be featured on a panel at Oakland University with representatives of other ethnic communities to discuss how America has historically treated immigrant groups and how that informs the current political debate. A light breakfast reception will start at 9:30 a.m. This event is free and open to the public, although advanced registration is requested.
