Next month, hundreds of yogis will descend on the Detroit Lions' home turf to attempt to set the world record for the largest indoor yoga class in history.
Organizers of "Yoga Rocks Ford Field" are hoping some 3,000 participants will make their way down to the stadium on Feb. 22 to get active and have a little minimal-risk fun, all while helping Detroit warrior-pose its way into the Guinness Book of World Records.
"We thought, 'What a great way to bring people downtown, do something active, with a low barrier to entry so that anyone could come out, and do it inside a building that's known all around the country,'" event organizer Justin Jacobs tells Huffington Post Detroit.
The class will be taught by Yoga Shelter instructor Eric Paskel, who plans to feature a fun and dynamic soundtrack, complete with tunes ranging from Lady Gaga to Morcheeba, and the Crystal Method. After class, a dance party will likely break out on the field.
Doors open at Ford Field at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 22, and the session starts promptly at 9:45 a.m. Registration is $25 and can be completed at Come Play Detroit.
So pull that yoga mat out of the closet — and get stretching.
