Tonight: Poetic Voices of the Muslim World

This evening, the Detroit Public Library, hosts Syrian-American spoken word artist Omar Offendum.

Omar Offendum brings a contemporary poetic voice to the Muslim world and beyond. Omar was born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Washington, DC and now lives in Los Angeles. He has toured the world to promote his ground-breaking music, helped raise thousands of dollars for various humanitarian relief organizations and lectured at various academic institutions. Sponsored by the Detroit Public Library, The Poets House, City Lore, National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Library Association and the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.

The event, part of the Lit in the Mitt series, is in collaboration with the Arab American National Museum.

Poetic Voices of the Muslim World featuring Omar Offendum is tonight, May 30, at 6:00 pm. Free.
