Ladies, we can do anything, right? We go to work, feed the kids, clean the house, and do our share of the heavy lifting. Yet, somehow getting a mere flat tire can put our bike out of commission for the rest of the summer. If you're a lady who likes to do it herself, we applaud you. And we have the perfect workshop for you.
Tonight the Woodhaven location of Al Petri & Sons bike shop will host a bicycle maintenance clinic for ladies only.
The workshop, which begins at 7 p.m., will teach the basics of bike parts, how to perform a safety check, basic day-to-day maintenance, how to fix a flat tire, and how to troubleshoot when having roadside problems.
Participants are asked to bring their bike, a bottle of chain lube (some will be available for purchase as well), tire levers, and allen wrenches.
Participants are also warned that the clinic is hands-on, so getting messy should be expected. A little grease never hurt anybody.
While this is event is for women only, another flat tire clinic will be held for both sexes on June 13 at the bike shop's Lincoln Park location.
The event is part of a series the locally-owned bike shop puts on in accordance with a weekly Wednesday night bike ride, also for ladies only.
