Threatening flyers posted in business windows and a rash of car break-ins in a trendy Portland, Ore. neighborhood are leading some to the conclusion that local Juggalos are protesting gentrification, Portland's KOIN reports
Flyers reading "You have been targeted by the Juggalo Family to get the [censored] out. Vacate or [censored] our [censored]," have been posted in the windows of at least 14 area businesses (a "threatening message" that "uses profanity and refers to a sex act,” according to KOIN). Police have been unable to link the car break-ins to the flyers, however.
In recent years, the Insane Clown Posse has been fighting the FBI for classifying Juggalos as a "loosely organized hybrid gang," a story Brett Callwood covered earlier this year
(the case was dismissed
this summer). “It’s because there are Juggalos out there committing crimes,” ICP's Violent J, aka Joseph Bruce, told Callwood. “When they pulled them over, everybody’s wearing the same shit, just like a gang. They’re all Juggalos. So the cop puts two and two together and says, ‘This is a gang.’ They’re not committing crimes in the name of Juggalos, for Juggalos, or because they’re Juggalos. They just happen to have their favorite band T-shirt on, and they’re committing crimes. Dolly Parton fans commit crimes. Our fans, they’re very devoted and very proud.”
