Watching the Detroit Red Wings between 1996-1998 was a treat to behold. The back-to-back Stanley Cups are an obvious highlight, but March 26, 1997 stands as another day enshrined in hockey history for Wings fans. Eighteen years ago today, when the Avalanche and Red Wings remained fierce rivals, just about everyone from both teams fought one another. Mike Vernon trekked out to center ice to throw a series of jabs at Patrick Roy. Darren McCarty and Claude Lemieux went at it. Even the humble Igor Larionov got into a fight. In case you haven't seen it in awhile, revisit the scene below on YouTube. The quality's VHS-fantastic, but you'll still get the experience.
