A 61-year-old man was hospitalized last week after he stripped down to his birthday best at the Kroger deli counter in Novi.

Police were summoned to the grocery store at Grand River and Beck Road around 7 p.m. on Saturday after reports trickled in that a naked man was leaning up against the meat counter and talking to employees. When police arrived, however, the man was lying on the floor, speaking incoherently.

“It was evident to officers that the man was experiencing some type of medical condition,” Assistant Chief Victor Lauria said of the incident. Police escorted him to a nearby hospital.

Of course, the episode was captured on camera and later posted to social media by Milford resident and witness Brandon Boudreau. The photos — which received hundreds of shares — have since been taken down, though the Detroit News is still running one of them.
